.....Hello All,

.....Was just hanging out and thought that posting in LJ would be a good idea. I really haven't had the chance to post in a while and am feeling a little behind. :-) Life has just been super busy lately and doesn't really look like it's going to ease up any time real soon. But it has been very nice being able to go into LJ and catch up with all of your lives. Makes me feel like I'm still connected to friends even if I can't see them and talk to them as much as I would like.

.....Spending the weekend at the beloved Laurellen's house in South Seattle. I've always been enamoured with the 'Seattle Scene'. I even thought about a condo over on this side before I bought the house where I live now. I sill wonder if I made the right decision. Although I would miss my Dragon's Laire friends terribly. They are my real family. :-)

.....There was a parade this morning that went right in front of Laurellen's house. It is some Mexican holiday this weekend (Revolution Day?) and the main street was blocked as the parade went through. There were marching bands and custom cars and a number of floats. Also a lot of horses with people dressed up as Gauchos. They were cool to watch, especially when the riders had the horses doing the special dance steps that they do. Very cool. You'd never see this type of neighborhood parade in the streets of Bremerton.

.....Something Laurellen noticed which I think was accurate was the amount of Mexican-American pride that was being put on display because of all the immigration issues that the country has been wrestling over the past year. It is rather easy for me to be complacent and non-feeling about an issue like this. But I can still easily see the contribution that these people bring to America. Shutting them out and moving them back to their own countries is not the answer. Guess it's pretty easy to see that I lean to the left. But enough with the politics. :-)

.....We were travelling around the neighborhood just before the parade started, trying to get back to the house and we noticed the coolest thing on one of the houses we passed. Above the entry was a graphic of Sauron's eye. It wasn't a temporary picture or poster or something that 'looked' out of place, it was actually part of the house's motiff. Way cool (even if it WAS Sauron's eye). Laurellen is thinking that she needs to put up the heraldry for Minas Tirith on her house (which J.R.R. Tolkien actually DID draw). I've often looked at the entryway of my house and thought that it would lend itself well for a set of doors representing the Hollin Gate entry to the Mines of Moria.

.....Merouda stopped by and is talking to Laurellen now. She is a hoot. :-) She has a rather refreshing and direct way of looking at things that is cool. She complements Laurellen rather well, which is probably why they are in the teacher-student relationship they are in.

.....Gonna run and take care of some things on my 'to-do' list. Not sure how many of them I'll actually finish. But spending time with Laurellen is such an excellent way to spend a weekend that I don't mind in the slightest. It's amazing how much I miss her over the period of a week in Bremerton. :-)

.....Everyone have a good rest of the weekend. :-)
