Random Catching Up.
Apr. 24th, 2007 06:29 am.....Greetings All,
.....It's been freakin' busy lately. But it doesn't look like I'm alone in that assessment these days. :-)
.....Spent last night finally getting caught up on my circlet orders. All polished, bundled up and ready to drop off at the Post Office today after work. When I went to input all the data in my spreadsheet I realized that I have once again dropped below minimum wage in circlet production. I really don't want to raise prices again. But, you know, that might be the best thing to do. If nothing else it'll slow down orders even more (which are pretty slow right now in any case). I don't need one more thing to occupy my time these days. :-)
.....Rev'ving up the June Faire machine. Had a meeting on site on Saturday. Have updated copy ready to smear all over the Kingdom's web-sites. Just waiting on some camping reservation information. We're getting out the starter gates a little slow and jerky this year, but I have a pretty good team so we'll make it.
.....Finally getting my arms around the new Crier Financial Reporting requirements. Doesn't take a whole lot more brain power, but took my pea sized brain a few extra days to get my brain wrapped around them.
.....Only three more days until I get to see the Beloved Tamm again! I can't wait! Two weeks is too long to be away from her. It's going to be a busy weekend though. Lots of painting to do. Rhys' new room needs to get coated and ready for Tamm's new murals. I think that Viva Pinata designs are still on the agenda, but am not totally sure if they'll make the final cut. :-) Also going to tackle the basement. Which is going to look strange painted in white. It's all dark brown wall paneling now. :-)
.....Something work related on which I've been absent mindedly pondering lately. Woman at the Shipyard have had to work extra hard in order to break into the 'Men's Club' here, which is a Navy and Navy Yard tradition stretching since America was founded. I'm totally impressed with the extra hard work and extra dedication that the women here have had to do in order to break into the club. But something caught my thoughts the other day. You can still see men opening and holding doors for women, even here at the Shipyard. But there was one day a couple of weeks ago where I just noticed a woman open a door and walk into a building without holding the door open for the guy behind her. So I started paying attention to see how gender specific this action was. I did notice that not a single woman I observed held a door open for a man when entering a room or building. But about two thirds of the men still held doors open for women. This is certainly nothing that is going to end the world and I'm certainly not advocating anything with this. It was just an amusing observation. Yes, I'm losing my mind with age. It comes from hanging out with Master Ralg too long. It rots the brain! :-)
.....Yes, definitely random today. :-)
.....Take care everyone, Aaron / Arontius.
