NORWESCON - Family Style.

.....It's strange being at NORWESCON with TBT and Rhys. I've been going to NORWESCON for almost twenty years now and spent a lot of those years in the party suite, or at the very least with a handful of room-mates. The past three years or so I finally had it down to a room by myself, which in itself was rather strange but good. But this is the first year of NORWESCON with a family. :-)

.....We came in at 2AM this morning. Which is still way cool. Parking is wonderful. There are no lines and no crowds anywhere. I had the opportunity to stand at the front desk with the clerk and figure out exactly what room we were going to get for the weekend. I told them that I wanted to be in the tower, on the west side and high enough to get a good view. I ended up with exactly the room I wanted, a corner room on the eleventh floor. Excellent view with lots of windows.

.....We slept in a little this morning (not nearly enough) and TBT and Rhys went out for an 'emergency TV run' for Rhys' Wii. :-) Then TBT had to get Rhys through a regular school day. I can tell you now that I'm glad that I'm not the school teacher. :-)

.....Took Rhys to the pool and hot tub after that. We both made it back to the room freezing our hind ends. Rhys actually volunteered to take a bath. Highly unusual. :-)

.....Then we got our NORWESCON badges and had a look around. It was already getting crowded downstairs. There are seriously cool merchants in the Marketplace. Lots of cool stuff on sale. I'm glad actually that we're watching our pennies, my cash card kept calling to me. :-)

.....Went to a couple of panels already. One was a run down on books coming out this next year. The other was a panel on Sir Francis Drake, English Bastard Extraordinaire. :-) Nothing new though. *I* am not a Drake expert and I was supplying information to the panel members. :-).

.....One thing NORWESCON does do every year is make me want to do some writing. I have a good basis and think that I could be a pretty good writer, given a little effort and ambition on my part. Every year I go 'hmmmmm' and never quite seem to get busy. As usual, I'm going 'hmmmm'. :-).

.....Off to see the Marketplace again and maybe listen to some music. Don't think that we'll be out long though. TBT looks tired.
