This Week's Boring Post.
May. 13th, 2008 06:40 pm.....Wow, the past couple of weeks have been freakishly busy. You can tell by how bad the house looks right now. :-) Dishes undone for days. Piles of clothes here and there. Dust bunnies getting out of hand. It's actually quite embarrasing. I hadn't realized how bad things were getting until people came over for the monthly Arts Night last night and I was quite embarassed to even show my face. :-)
.....But both TBT and I have good excuses. My 'to-do' list keeps growing, but I'm quite proud of the fact that I keep poking away at it, slow and a little bit at a time. I have managed to just about totally catch up on circlet orders. I have just a few stray orders out there for patterns I just don't have on the shelf. I'll have to get my etchers to send me another sheet or two of designs.
.....Holy Cow! The price of etched sheets keeps going up. When I started producing circlets for Ingasbo, a sheet of acid etched designs cost me just under $100. Yesterday, I paid $170 for each sheet of designs. The guy who does my etching was quite apologetic, but had to increase the costs due to the heightened HazMat and HazWaste requirements that the State of California imposes on him for acid etching. My only solace is that the price would be even higher in Washington State, or if I tried to mass produce acid etchings myself.
.....I'm kind of excited that Ingasbo is finally starting to gear up again. I actually enjoy producing the circlets and hadn't realized how much I was missing it. But I definitely have to raise the costs per circlet. I'm definitely losing money. Some circlets are actually costing more to ship than I charge for shipping. TBT is talking about helping digitize the latest round of circlet designs. She is even talking about setting up a new web-site for Ingasbo. She has all kinds of good ideas. And of course, this is TBT, so whatever Ingasbo ends up looking like will look absolutely fantastic!
.....Last Friday we went and looked at Silver Spurs as a site for Last Chance. I think that it is going to work out great. The place is huge. It could almost be a June Faire site. As I walked the site I kept thinking back to when we had June Faire there, or 'Mudevil Faire' as we ended up calling it. I'll never forget all of that water! Whole encampments floated away that weekend. :-)
.....Wish I were going to May Crown this weekend. Sounds like it is going to be fun. But I've got a ton of stuff to get done at home. I want to get a handful of circlets done to sell at June Faire itself. I desparately want to clean the house some. There is also a birthday dinner over at Gwen's as well.
.....I will not be able to get my silk banner done before June Faire, but I have a bunch of rip-stop at home that would be cool if I could run through the serger and make some banners to fly at June Faire. I've got some bright colors. I think that I've got enough poles on which to fly them. I definitely want to go to Lobelia and see what I have for flag flying. If I can squeeze enough time maybe I can even start the clean out of Lobelia for June Faire.
.....I'm hoping to get with Renart and help with the lay-out of campers. But I was tesing him last weekend and I think that I managed to tick him off. I'll have to try and make amends somehow. Not necessarily the easiest thing to do, but I'll try. Maybe some Don Julio will be needed?
.....Anyone know of good sites in the Kitsap County area to hold Business Meetings and Fight Practices? We're looking and we need new locations by the end of June. Let me know.
.....That's enough verbal regurgitation for one day. I'll talk to you all later.
.....Aaron / Arontius.
