OMG, it's a POST! :-)
Aug. 23rd, 2008 03:58 pm.....Work has been kicking my ass lately. Hence, I have not been nearly as posty as I have been in the past. But for some strange reason I am completely alone in the house today. It felt strange at first, then I started feeling the moment and it felt good. :-)
.....Wish I had been able to get more done though. But I did get a few things done so I should feel a little bit of accomplishment. The third pass of the the computer room for the 'One Hundred Items Challenge' is complete. I'm please that now there is a considerable amount of floor space available. But there is still more than one hundred items in the room, so I'll have to make a fourth pass. This one is going to be painful, but I can already see candidates. There is a clarinet in there that I haven't played since high school, and don't really plan on playing again. So it is going out into the Goodwill pile. But it has a LOT of high school memories associated with it. It traveled many a parade route, including the Portland Rose Festival, a five mile parade in a march step that nearly killed me. But I still had a blast. I can see a goodly handful of other items that fall into this same category. I think that this fourth pass may take a while.
.....Ran across my old AD&D maps last night in the closet. I was a total geekazoid in high school and after. My maps are extensive as hell. I surprised myself considerably though by having the ability to toss out about two thirds of them. I think that a few more are going into the recycle bin before we're done though. Made me miss playing though. Hmmmm, I keep vacillating on a game. Maybe sometime this winter.
.....Hey, also mucked out the bedroom, which was a total disaster area. The bed has been changed out. The pile of clothes on the dresser has been put away. The pile of stuff in front of the closet has been sort. But the biggest thing, the cat boxes and the area around them, has been cleaned out. Now that alone makes me feel accomplished. It was BAD! :-)
.....I'm now looking at my 'to-do' list, which is rather extensive. It's making me really re-evaluate what I'm doing at work these days. I'm really starting to wonder if accepting the new position at work was such a good idea. The workload has increased tremendously, as well as the stress level. Where before I took on the new job I worked a nine to ten hour day on my own whim, so I could easily maintain, now I work a nine to ten hour day on a regular basis just to keep my head above water. And I'm not really doing that very well to be honest. Most days I get home and I'm a total zombie. TBT is not exactly sure what to do or say, so she walks on egg shells at times, after dealing with her own level of angst on a daily basis.
.....The funny part though is that I think that others are noticing at work. I was asked on three separate occasions if I would consider taking on a new / different job. All three were at a GS-12 position, but all three offers were sincere and sounded interesting. I actually did some half-hearted checking on them to see what was involved. But only half-hearted. The Big Boss doesn't want me going anywhere and would absolutely make my life interesting if I made a sincere attempt to take the demotion. We'll see what happens over the next couple of months.
.....Looking forward to September Crown next weekend. Not looking forward to mucking out Lobelia in preparation for said event. She is a mess. I had been planning on a pavilion for Crown as I really enjoyed pavilioning July Coronation, but word has it that the Baronial Encampment is packed tight, with late additions wanting even more space. TBT and I claimed a pretty good sized footprint within the encampment, so when we move out that should allow for a couple of others to take part. Lobelia still has no refrigerator though and I don't think that we're going to get her fixed before next weekend, so we'll be relying on ice chests and Mistress Gwenllyn's to store cold stuff. Sigh! Need to raise that issue higher in the 'to-do' list.
.....Monday is the June Faire Roundtable up in Poulsbo. Monday's are not good nights for me. I'm usually a grouch on Monday nights. I'll have to work on my attitude when I get home from work on Monday. I have received some interesting questions already via e-mail, so it will probably be more interesting than say a Wyvern meeting. Anything that improves June Faire for the future is a good thing.
.....Well, off to go and get something more done. Hope that everyone has a good weekend.
