.....We hit the ground running at work this year, and it seemed there for a couple of weeks that all I saw in front of me was either the video monitor as I type e-mail or the lips of the big boss flapping in the breeze of the hot air he generated. I wish that I could honestly say that I actually pay close attention to what he says more, but upon entering his office my primary and overiding goal is ALWAYS to get out of it as quickly as possible, and saying as few words as is absolutely necessary. :-)

.....But for some reason today was just a hair easier, and just a tiniest bit slower in pace, for a change. I actually answered enough e-mail to reduce the work inbox to about the 300 mark. A good day! I'm home and it's after 7PM and I'm not dog tired and actually feel happy with the work day. And felt the need to write in Live Journal for a few moments.

.....I was introduced lately to the phenomena known as Facebook. There was a Live Journal feed that linked over to Facebook and while there I started looking around. Then I stumbled across an old friend of mine who lives over there. It was someone whom I haven't seen in almost ten years now. But it felt strange, but fun, to connect. Don't know where it'll go, but considering the old friends I've lost over the past couple of years, maybe it is a good idea to re-connect whenever and with whomever you can.

.....Facebook is definitely an alien place! Live Journal is so straight forward and 'normal' in comparison. Maybe it's because I basically 'grew up' in Live Journal and it just feels 'normal' to me. But Live Journal is a very basic premise, it is just like it says, a 'journal'. Facebook seems full of 'stuff' and gimicks to involve people into interacting with each other. Nothing wrong with that of course. And I suppose that Live Journal does that to a degree. But after Live Journal, Facebook seems just a little 'out there'. :-)

.....Ursulmas this weekend. I was on the fence about going originally. Ursulmas has never been a favorite event of mine. I'm not a passionate fighter, so the Tournament is not a draw. It's always cold as hell. There was a Pelican meeting in the works, but it was cancelled. BUT, Einar is going to be made a Knight, and TBT PROMISED GULENAY THAT SHE WOULD BE THERE. So, by all the dieties that are our witnesses, we SHALL BE THERE!!!! Isn't that right, Tamm? :-) (Snicker, snicker, damn straight, that :-))).

.....No Estrella for me this year. I'm bummed out, but really couldn't go with the current workload I have at the Shipyard. It is supposed to level out and start dropping off as winter changes over to Spring, but February is going to be a super busy month. So it was probably for the best. But what it does mean is more likely the trip to May Crown is a go. Way Cool!

.....One note learned from Twelfth Night, watching what you say and whom you say it to is always important. I spent some time last Fall asking people what they thought of me taking on the job of Kingdom Seneschal. I am interested in the job, and was interested in hearing what people think are my strengths and weaknesses and of my ability to actually do the work. I was evidently not clear enough in my explanations as people were running to the current Kingdom Seneschale and asking her what she was going to do after she stepped down from her job in May. Ack! Sorry, Ned, I'll be more careful with what I say and to whom I say it. You have a hard enough job as it is without us freaks adding a few nightmares and headaches along the way. :-)

.....I wonder if I'm feeling more hopeful tonight because of the change in leadership in Washington, D.C. That might have something to do with it. I am one of those who is firmly in the camp of those who can now look at pictures of the White House without the gnashing of teeth in anger or the holding the breath in fear of some new stupidity about to be unleashed upon the world. I was not an Obama support in the beginning, but I've warmed up to him quite a bit and definitely willing to give him a chance, and my support. Besides, anyone for whom Rush Limbaugh dislikes has earned at least a smile and a handshake from me. Can't stand that blowhard! Blech!

.....O.K., enough rambling. I'm starting to bore myself now. Good night! :-)
