.....Having a thousand channels of T.V. to watch always seems like a useless way to spend the day. But every now and then something cool shows up, like this show on the History Channel devoted to inventions of the Tudor era. I hadn't realized that the knitting machine as a concept was invented in 1589. It was rather intricate, and looks an awful lot like the contraption my grandmother's friend had in her living room when I was young. Who would have figured?

......Gives you a new appreciation for those ridiculous stockings that the Elizabethans wore. It took two days of solid knitting for one pair of those things. And we're talking two complete days. Although I suppose all of those knitters out there reading this are clucking in exasperation over the shear stupidity of that statement! Of course it takes freakin' forever to knit a set of stockings, especially knee level or higher! :-)

.....I'm rather glad that my tastes are NOT in the Elizabethan period. :-) I'll leave that for TBT. :-)

.....Even when empty, six foot oxygen cylinders are freakin' heavy! Putting it into Suzie the Subaru was probably not my brightest idea of the day. Especially after having vacuumed the car and then watching rusty water come gushing out of the cylinder. Sigh!

.....Oh! And that momentum and inertia thing? Um, it's for real! When you are traveling 25+ miles an hour, and then slam on the brakes? Well, those freakin' heavy gas cylinders tend to want to stay in motion. Good thing that you had it set against the passenger seat, and not your own. Ouch!

.....Now to get the silly thing cut and then set in some sort of contraption so that it can be rung. Need to get a hold of Bernie, or Ralph, and see if I can get the cylinder on to a band saw.

.....If things go right, maybe we can be ringing the thing at June Faire instead of listening to Ian play on his Navy whistle. :-)
