Some Updating.
Mar. 29th, 2009 07:21 am.....It's early on Sunday morning and I'm trying to decide what really has the priority today on the list of 'things that must get done'. The unfortunate thing is that none of the items on my list are really jumping out and saying 'Come do me!'. :-)
.....I was extra good yesterday though, so maybe I'm paid up for a little down time. After my usual Starbucks run with TBT, I gathered all the cleaning supplies and went on over to Mom's apartment. That place was an absolute mess, even though I've been slowly picking things up over the past couple of weeks. I slogged through the Living Room and the Kitchen. Thankfully, it had been several hours since breakfast or I might have lost it during the Kitchen clean out. Very disgusting. After the clean out I went on over to the hospital to visit Mom, with the first words out of my mouth being 'If you let the apartment get to that state again, I swear I'm going to kick your butt!' :-) She was contrite and told me that she would. :-)
.....After a run to the Storage Unit to drop off a few more boxes I made it home and took a shower before running over to the Yacht Club Broiler for Bernie's 50th Birthday Party. It was a good gathering of people. Some good conversation, and the food was good (although a bit on the pricey side). I was tired though and glad to be going home, although I did manage to drop off a few more Baronial Polling Letters with people, which means a few less to mail off today.
.....When we arrived home last night I ran across an e-mail from Morrigram Graham relaying the fact that Ladyhawk had died. She was 57, way too young to be passing on from a heart attack. I remember her from my days of just starting to get active in the SCA back in the early to mid '90's. When I started playing my eyes were full of proverbial SCA stars, but I had no clue as to what exactly to do. All my friends at the time were members of the Constabulary, so that was where I gravitated. Ladyhawk was a fixture at gate and with the Constabulary and I remember many a conversation with her. She loved her household and would do anything for them. She also had a sharp witted tongue, which she used to great effect with Richard of Sussex (Oaf), who was the, then, Shire Constable. She was a nice lady and I'll miss her.
.....I'm still not sure what I'm going to do today. I have to do some laundry in preparation for the work week. But that is the only 'must do'. I may see about pulling out the hammered dulcimer and seeing about tuning it up. Or I may see if I can dig up some red felted wool and do some applique. I ran across this really cool book that gave suggestions on applique designs for a Hungarian Szur.
.....Also have to mail off some Baronial Polling letters, and deposit a Crier check.
.....May also do some more work on a Twelfth Night bid. We will give Adiantum a little run for its money. They may officially have it in the bag, but we can't make things TOO easy on them. ;-) With love, of course,
fearga, only with love. ;-)
.....If I'm feeling really adventurous I may also do some organization in the garage, but I am not going to hold my breath on that one. :-)
.....Things are going to get interesting at work for a while. There is a new code being stood up that is supposedly taking away a lot of the workload that I have on my plate now. I would really like to move over there, but the current boss and the Uber Boss want me to stay put. Unfortunately the stuff they want me to keep is all the stuff I really hate doing. This week the new code is supposed to request that I move over to them since I have the most experience doing the stuff they want. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. We'll see.
.....Many things will be resolved over the next four weeks, one way or another. The new Code officially stands up on April 8th. The Project that has been ramping up for the past few months officially begins on April 20th. By early May everything will be off and running and I'll either being running in the new Code, or beginning to plan for the next Project in Norfolk starting in September, in either case the workload should at least be manageable for a little while.
.....Just in time for June Faire! :-)
.....O.K., enough rambling, I think I see a run to Starbucks in the very near immediate future. :-)
.....Aaron / Arontius.
