A Hopeful Monday.

.....The day was actually defined at the end on the way home. I was crossing the Manette bridge over to East Bremerton and a bald eagle flew right in front of me. It was a big one too. The bright white head shone in the light of the late sunny day. A good omen.

.....A while back a new code was started that was destined to take on a lot of the miscellaneous work that I currently plan and manage. At first I was hopeful that maybe the new code would pull me over their way, and take me out of my present pressure cooker of an environment. But my mid level boss was resistant to that plan and I slowly gave up thinking that maybe I might get a change of scenery. My hope being that at the very least my workload might improve a little bit by having a lot of the miscellaneous stuff I do now go away and at least allow me to concentrate a little on a couple of the bigger jobs I plan now.

.....The dynamics changed again today, totally out of the blue. The new code started analyzing everything that I was throwing over the fence to them, and they reconsidered their position. They knew that my mid-level boss was highly resistant to my moving anywhere, so they bypassed him and went to the Big Boss and made a play to move me over to their code to manage all this miscellaneous stuff. I was not expecting them to do this to be honest.

.....The mid level boss was not expecting it either, and for the first time spoke to me with a change in attitude. For the first time he broached the subject of how he would reorganize our code if I were to transition away.

.....I had always worried a little bit about my future in my current code. The workload is extremely high now, but in about a year or so that workload would drop off considerably since we'd be doing essentially the same work, just on a different boat. At that time I wondered where I would go if I wasn't needed any more. So my moving to the new code now makes a certain amount of sense. The only reason I wasn't was the fact that the mid level boss wanted me to stay put to keep the high visibility work moving forward until such time as he could keep an eye on it without having to devote much time towards doing so.

.....There is a meeting scheduled tomorrow where the new code is going to make the pitch to pull me on over to their code to take on planning duties. I'm actually hopeful for the first time in a long time. But I'm trying my best to not give too much expectation to this. I've been hopeful on many occasions in the past only to find myself sighing in frustration as I find that everything I don't want to have happen, happening anyway. But I'm going to allow myself at least a little bit of hope. I'm crossing my fingers. :-)

.....Hmmm, FLN is showing an episode of Iron Chef. I haven't seen an episode of Iron Chef in a long time. We used to watch it every Friday after Bad Movie Night over at Mistress Gwen's house. Some of the cool dishes they create are fun to watch in their creation. Justas some of them are kind of scary as well. :-)
