It's Cold In Georgia.
Jan. 13th, 2010 08:10 pm.....I've been to Georgia a number of times over the past handful of years and this is the first time I've had to wear a coat here. All the other times I've had my breath taken away from me at the airport when I step outside and get slapped silly by the hot humid air. This time it felt like home in Bremerton. In fact the temperature here only reached 54 degrees today, and that was considered a heat wave for this area in 2010. It's funny to be thinking of going home tomorrow to warm up. :-)
.....This was a rather frustrating trip. The Project Manager sent me down to attend a conference and speak to some work we're going to start later this year. I argued that since he was going to be the onsite Project Manager that he should come down and speak to those on site. But he was insistent that he needed to stay home and keep things moving there. I finally gave up and started thinking of the trip as a mini-vacation away from the Big Boss.
.....Sigh! It did not work out that way. I've had the cell phone stuck to my ear so long that I think the skin is starting to adhere to it. The Project Manager underestimated just how detailed oriented the Big Boss is and has been trying to keep up with what I ordinarily do all week. He should have listened to me last week. I suppose in some ways this is a good thing in that he'll get something of an appreciation on some of the things I shield him from experiencing in dealing with the Big Boss. Unfortunately, this will mean a lot of clean up work starting on Friday.
.....I need a new job and change of scenery bad.
.....I'm also a little anxious on the SCA front as well. A wild rumor started last week that required a lot of clean up this week, mainly with people having ruffled feathers. Lots of e-mails and hurt feelings that had to be soothed (including my own in a small way). E-mails are fine for a lot of things, but there are some situations where I would much rather discuss things face-to-face with people. Sometimes you can't always do that.
.....June Faire is being challenging in a couple of ways this year as well. Personnel having life issues all over the place. The Chairwoman, Talia, is doing a great job of keeping up with everything, but June Faire would be a lot more fun without all the churn happening.
.....Twelfth Night was interesting. I wish I could have stayed the weekend. Being on site for Saturday only left me feeling a little disconnected from the event. I hate feeling like an outsider at an SCA Event, but that is my own stupidity. Wish I could have spent some more time at Ocean Shores as well. I like Ocean Shores and would have liked to walk the beach for a while.
.....Pelican Meeting was largely uneventful for me. Although I am still mulling over the relationship between the Crown and the Pelican Council as discussed by TBT in her journal. I've noticed it in lesser and greater degrees depending upon the Crown. I don't think that there is an easy answer, and that answer will be different from Crown to Crown. It'll require lots of forethought and good communications. But as usual TBT puts out good thoughts on which to chew.
.....I really like [Unknown site tag]'s Elizabethan Hats at Twelfth Night. I thought that Talon's looked great and I liked the others I saw. I'm rather a hat person. I used to wear them a lot more than I do now.
.....I should be off to bed, but am still not adjusted to East Coast time and find I am not sleepy. I have to be at the airport by 4:30 AM tomorrow morning to catch my 6:30 AM flight. Which means I have to leave King's Bay by about a quarter to 4AM. Which means getting up at the latest by 3AM. Well, I guess I'll sleep on the plane. Wish I could take Friday off of work, but I dare not. There are too many things piling up on my desk, and with Monday being a holiday, and the Big Boss on the warpath this week, I need every minute I can get to get caught up.
.....But it IS a three day weekend....
.....Hope TBT enjoyed her mini-vacation. I missed her, and not just because it felt strange not having the covers taken away two or three times over the course of the evening. :-)
.....Aaron / Arontius.
