.....I missed another appointment yesterday. It was the Alexander James concert at The Global Bean. Damn! Again, I wish I had either written it down, or set up some sort of reminder. Until I get some sort of scheduling system down I really need to get SOMETHING in place now. I think I'll go investigate the Google Calendar thing.

.....I guess the concert was pretty good. I caught just a little bit of the concert at NORWESCON and was looking forward to more. But for some reason I kept thinking it was later in the month. I wish that Adrienne had posted a reminder to the Baronial list.

.....Yesterday was interesting. Promptly at 7:30 I was in our Code Administrator's Office. He wasted no time in basically asking why I was being such an idiot in wanting to give up my job and accept a demotion. He implied that it would be years before I would be considered for any other promotion as this demotion would be questioned constantly. I explained my logic to him and he actually understood as he knows the Big Boss well. But he thought that since I had made it this far I could make it the eight more months left before the Big Boss retires. I had already anticipated this conversation and had run practically every word he said through my mind already and I was not persuaded.

.....However, almost immediately upon leaving his office I received a phone call from my Project Manager in Kings Bay. He had been told about the job offer and wanted to get a hold of me early. He told me that he really wanted me to stay in my current job as he needed my help. He knew all the right things to say, especially hitting the high notes of loyalty and the low notes of leaving THE TEAM in a lurch. He also went on to remind me that he had worked hard over the past handful of months in putting himself between me and the Big Boss as often as he could, even so far as moving me out of the same building as the Big Boss. I was in a quandry at this point. He was hitting all the right buttons.

.....I finally relented enough to say that I would stay put at least through the completion of the current Project, which last through July. At that point he would be back at home and could actively look for a replacement for me and I could move. Sigh! That was tough all around and I know that I'm going to regret like hell this relenting the very next time I have to go into the Big Boss' office for another meeting. Only eight months until he retires. Can I make it? It'll be a race to see if he retires before I go insane.

.....Had dinner last night at Ghandi's in Silverdale and was reminded of why Anne-Marie likes it so much. The food is GOOD! I had the mixed grill and some nan. I asked for five stars of spiciness and it was almost too much for me. :-)

.....After our usual coffee outing at Starbucks this morning I took Mom out for some errands. We got the Storage Unit put into her name. Got her bus pass for the month. Had an interesting conversaton with the manager of the Storage Unit. Mom has been investigating retirement apartments. There are a couple of places in Seattle to check out, at least one of them sounds reasonably affordable. Now if I could persuade her to get her hip replaced before she retired I think that she'd have a much better time.

.....After dropping off Mom we went and saw 'Alice in Wonderland'. It was interesting. The visuals are rather stunning. I loved looking at it. But the story itself was not so interesting. Lewis Carroll probably is yawning in his grave. Even Mr. Depp looked bored as the Mad Hatter. But like I said, the visuals were stunning. Very inspirational in that regard.

.....Worked on some circlets when we finally made it back home. This lady has been questioning me closely for weeks on the choice between one circlet and another. I had put both of them in the hopper to complete a couple of weeks ago. But when she actually placed his order? She ordered something completely different! :-)

.....Been listening to TBT deal with merchants. She knew the merchants would be 'interesting', but I think she is finding out that 'interesting' may be more painful than she realized. They can be frustratingly cruel on ocassion. I hope she doesn't take it personally. It's not worth it. I found it interesting that the things the merchants are doing are things I anticipated and actually warned TBT about earlier. I hope that the merchants realize we actually talk amongst ourselves in Dragon's Laire. Mistress Gwenllyn is not exactly shy about telling TBT about her history as Marketplace Coordinator for June Faire. And I have not either as a past Marketplace Coordinator and Chairperson for June Faire. Sigh! Come on, people. First, we actually TALK. And second, TBT is pretty damned smart in her own right. Trying to gain an advantage through bullying her or persuading her with a sad story are not going to get you into the Marketplace for June Faire!

.....Time for bed.
