The Obligatory Weekend Post.
Jul. 4th, 2010 09:26 pm.....For some reason I've been rather frenetic this weekend. I'm not sure why. June Faire is over. It could have something to do with work as we're going into our test cycle and things have not been going well. But, oh well, roll with it I guess.
.....Yesterday we slept in rather late, which felt good to be honest. Haven't done that for a long while. After a late morning trip to Starbucks I finally decided I needed to get started with some chores. I finally managed to muck out the bathroom from hell. It is clean! I should probably take a picture of it and pin it to the wall in there to remind me what a clean bathroom should look like. :-)
.....Actually, what we NEED to do is to get in contact with our housekeeper again and get back into the rotation. Or grab the name of the housekeep Talon and Jenae or Cedric and Brighid use. I miss how the house used to look and smell after their cleaning. If nothing else, it always forced me to clean up after myself so I wasn't so embarassed when they showed up to clean the house. :-)
.....Headed over to Talia's around 2:30 for the Bar-Be-Que. It was quite the turnout! Eleanor and her mother. Brummbar and S.B. Even Petr and Kierran. It was a good gathering. I kept pacing the gathering and nibbling constantly. I paid for doing that later with an upset tummy. But the food was good and I was definitely in a nibbling mood. Need to keep and eye out for that as it can hurt if not managed.
.....Did not sleep in as long this morning. Which was a good thing as there were many things to get done on the list. Cleaned the kitchen and the cat boxes. Managed to get a pretty decent start on the laundry. Watered the plants. Then I decided I'd better deal with dumping the tank in Lobelia.
.....The tank has been filled since June Faire. I didn't want to make the drive to Poulsbo. Drive Lobelia to the Fairground and then turn around and drive her back. But I finally put on my big boy underoos and got into Suzee and hit the road.
.....It was a good drive. I had Steeleye Span on high volume. The windows rolled down. If I squinted just a little I could almost pretend I was headed out of London on one of the 'M' highways on the way to Biggleswade. :-) Made me homesick in a way. I love England, and I've only been there once for two weeks. I definitely need to get a car the next time I'm there and drive through the countryside.
.....When I made it to Lobelia I was instantly glad I had decided not to wait any longer. The smell was not BAD, but I could tell pretty quickly that I shouldn't wait any longer. So I drove her down to the Fairgrounds and dumped the tanks. Then sprayed her down really well and put in more chemicals. Lobelia needs a good cleaning. I think next Saturday I'm going to take her down to Belfair to the R.V. carwash there and wash her down. Then bring her to the house for a good scrub-down inside before packing for July Coronation.
.....When I started Suzee from home up to Poulsbo the 'Check Engine' light was on. After taking her down the freeway and then parking her at the Storage Unit, the light was off when I started her up agaon. Then after several lights and stops on Poulsbo I could feel a difference in her driving and the 'Check Engine' light lit back up. Then coming up the hill from the freeway light she was definitely sluggish. I was a little worried. When I was talking it over with TBT she said that it sounded like a fuel filter issue, which immediately lit up in my brain as a score. All the symptoms fell in line. Which made me feel a little better as that is a relatively easy fix. That along with the headlamp that is out now. Sigh!
.....Cleaned up the drive-way. We can now get four cars on to it again! :-)
.....Was feeling the need to get things done as people started trickling in for the July 4th baseball game. I elected to stay home to watch the Rhys Monster and Brigit. Baseball is not my thing.
.....Since I was still feeling the need to get something done, I cleaned off the front entry. The dragon head is now on the ledge in front of the house, along with several bird houses. :-) Cleaned up the dead plant containers and swept down the stairs. Even trimmed back the Rhoddies that were taking over the stairs. It started looking a little better at that point. And there is a little more room to walk around without getting a plant jabbed into your eye.
.....I started feeling a little more accomplished and finally decided to call it a day.
.....Got fireworks to do for the kids in just a little while. I know I have to take Mom shopping tomorrow, but can't remember what else is on my 'to-do' list. The iPod Touch knows though. It knows all now! :-) And Starbucks now has free WiFi! :-)
.....One more thought from today I want to remember on the Sargeantry Program. I was thinking that Sargeantry Candidates might take on a 'Final Project' along the lines of what Boy Scouts do to become Eagle Scouts. It doesn't necessarily have to be Civic Minded. It could be a research project or paper. Or a Championship in another branch. Or??? Just something over which I was musing.
.....O.K. Now my brain is shutting down. I think that I'll let it go into mush mode while watching either Star Wars or John Wayne ('The Cowboys' is on tonight). Need to stay awake a little while longer for the kids fireworks.
.....Hope everyone had a fun day! :-)
