.....I believe that Lobelia is as packed as she is ever going to be. For some reason I just don't feel ready to go. But I'm starting to figure out that this is the NORMAL feeling before striking out on the road. :-)
.....I stayed home from archery to do some cleaning up of Lobelia. All the fluids are checked, and filled as necessary. She was cleaned out inside and made ready for packing. She could still use a really good scrub down, inside and out. But time is just not on my side. I spent most of the day on Saturday just working on three sides of her outside and she still looks like she just made the trek from my homestead in Oklahoma.
.....Bet you didn't know there is a Rogers County, Oklahoma, and that I had relative there, did you? :-) Explains a few things about me, it does. :-)
.....I had wanted to get the garage cleaned out as there are several banners and poles and portable holes in there I would have liked for the weekend. But the garage is an absolute disaster area. I need FEMA to come in and do an assessment for me as I'll need a disaster relief team just to make headway. We've got to pick a weekend day sometime in the next month to do nothing but go through the garage and clean it up. I'm sure we'll find TBT's wayward coronet jewel as well. There is so much stuff in the garage that I'm almost convinced that it hit something soft on impact and didn't shatter.
.....We're going to get up early tomorrow and hit Starbucks one final time. Then bring the Rhys Monster back some breakfast before we take off and hit the road. We'll have to hit the supermarket first. So the plan is to hit Safeway at 9AM, fill Lobelia with gas after and hit the road by 10AM. With any luck we'll miss the Seattle commute traffic and hit site as they open.
.....The weather is looking a slight bit better than it was earlier in the week. Projected to hit the upper '80's. Still hot, but not unbearably so. Someone who used to live in the area (and now lives in Druim Doineann) suggested we also bring some items of cold weather variety as the nights can still get pretty cold.
.....The Rhys Monster was somewhat torn about coming with us. He gets bored at SCA events, but has a decent time with us. I finally played the role of the bad guy and said that he needed to stay home as we just hadn't planned on his being with us and we would have had to make a lot of changes in the plan. He didn't seem too put out. We also mentioned that September Crown was even closer and we could still plan on his coming with us to that event. He seemed O.K. with the plan.
.....He is going to spend the weekend with Mistress Gwen and family. He and Brigget will play their electronic brains out. :-) I think we're going to miss Gwen the most this weekend. She's been the sun that the rest of us have orbited for so many events now that it will be difficult to function on our own! :-) I hope we make it without going hungry. :-) We will miss her though, she is a good and constant friend. I hope she enjoys her weekend in any case.
.....High School reunion is in full scale planning mode. Still scheduled for June 31st. A bunch of us band geeks found each other via the South Kitsap Reunion Web-Site and we've been making separate plans to meet that day as well. Most of them have moved on to other states and really have no idea how much the area has changed. When one of them suggested that we spend Saturday night cruising downtown Bremerton I had a good ten minute laugh. :-) Downtown Bremerton hasn't seen a cruise in over ten years now. Sure brought back a lot of memories though. We'd get into our beat up, hand-me-down cars and take turns slowly driving down Pacific Avenue. From the Post Office to the Shipyard gate was maybe a quarter mile, but at the height of the cruise it would still take at least 45 minutes to get from one end to the other. You had to meet with all your friends, whistle at the girls, posture defensively against the dudes from the opposing high school, all the usual. I hadn't thought about doing that in ages. I miss it in an odd way. :-)
.....Best wishes to everyone hitting the road tomorrow. Drive safe and see you in Vulcanfeldt!
