.....Seems that Congress has a thing for saving some money by putting the Federal Workforce on a furlough. Can't you just feel the love? :-)

"...Congressman Mike Coffman (R-Co.) is the latest legislator to join the ranks of lawmakers who have sought to drive down the federal deficit by targeting federal employees, introducing a bill he contends will save taxpayers billions of dollars by requiring the federal government to furlough civil servants for two weeks in FY11. Additionally calling for a ten percent pay cut for Members of Congress, Rep. Coffman said his bill (H.R. 6134) would save over $5.5 billion. The legislation would provide exceptions in cases relating to national security and public health or safety.

"These shortsighted approaches to save the government money will eventually harm taxpayers in ways we cannot measure with dollar signs," stated Niehaus. "We at FMA urge our nation's leaders to reign in our spending without placing the burden on the backs of those who ensure the public's welfare and keep this country secure.""
