Still Cleaning Up From June Faire.
Aug. 3rd, 2011 10:25 pm.....I tackled the dreaded Swamp Monster in the form of a huge mound of 'stuff' that has been sitting in front of the garage door since it was deposited there from June Faire. I can't believe it has actually been almost two months since June Faire. It seems like it just happened last weekend! Damn!
.....Pulled out all the lumber, then the canvas, the stakes, the ropes. When I split out all the piles I found there were a small list of things missing. At least several crucial pieces of lumber. Then I discovered that my entire bag o'stakes was missing as well.
.....After tearing apart the garage, and then putting it back together, I finally came to the conclusion that maybe it was still in the Baronial Storage Unit. Which made me laugh. In the past ten years not a single year has gone by whereas some of my stuff has been placed in the Baronial Storage Unit and Baronial stuff ends up in my garage. I was rather careful this year too. :-)
.....So, I wandered down to the Storage Unit. And hmmm, guess what I found? Not only the lumber I knew I was missing, but pieces I didn't even realize I was missing. Namely the cross beams to TBT's day shadea. Oh, and the bag o'stakes. Which have all been safely retrieved.
.....So, the list of things still missing from June Faire is now relatively small. We're not entirely sure where the pins are located that belong in the Day Shade. But the one thing that is frustrating us all together is the box that came from the PFKAS that held, among other things, our silk banners that flew on either corner of the PFKAS at June Faire. Which, on any other occasion, would be funny, as we carefully put the silk banners in a 'safe place' so that they would be protected. Sigh! So much for safe! :-)
.....So, the major items for the weekend have been located. We have pavilions, awning, carpets, and bed. The next round up session will be for the small stuff: clothes, food, and toiletries.
.....Also need songbook, dance music, boom box. Going to teach at least a couple of Serjeantry candidates to dance a little. Will also pack the Gemshorn and the Recorder and appropriate music. Not sure what else to pack. Will have to think on that one.
.....Would love to take some time off on Friday to finish getting packed up and get to site. It was a hectic day today though, which doesn't bode well for Friday. I think that I'll be there all day.
.....Tomorrow is the Business Meeting. Must remember to get our letter put together with enough time to have TBT review and add her own remarks. Lots to discuss, but gotta try and remember to work on being shorter and succinct. I can almost see Rycheza sigh every time we send her one of our letters for inclusion into The Flames and she has to make it fit. :-)
.....Sigh! Should put together another 'to-do' list, I'm starting to forget a few things and it will be a busy month through Last Chance.
.....Wish I could squeeze some time out of the schedule to make new silk banners. Will work on that one. As well as visiting the Renaissance Faire. Must see if all the fantastic marketing this year translates well into what actually happens. Whoever is their Marketing Guru this year is doing a pretty good job.
.....Aaron / Arontius.
