The Monday Drag.
Mar. 12th, 2012 09:00 pm.....Sunday afternoon ended the weekend with a visit from the migraine demon. I'd made it through the retinue meeting in the morning. I thought something was up though when I felt the familiar pressure building up in my head. I tried to head it off with a Quad Latte and some quick release Tylenol. But in the afternoon completing our weekly shopping trip through Costco I felt the pressure starting to build and the eyesight starting to go tunnel-vision. So I cut the trip a little short and got myself home.
.....The grand experiment. I picked up some Tylenol from Canada the other weekend and it was time to see if it helped any with migraines. The verdict? I'm not really sure. I think the intensity of the headache was decreased, but it was still rather painful. I slept the afternoon away. Woke up for a short time in the evening to read e-mail. Then went back to bed for the night.
.....Hint. Don't read and answer e-mail when in the middle of a migraine, no matter how 'mild' it may be. You end up either sounding really stupid or really grouchy.
.....Woke up this morning at 4AM, as usual. The headache was still there and so I turned off the alarm and went back to bed. I was thinking that I'd call in sick in a couple of hours. A little after 5AM I woke up again and was actually feeling much better. I thought about the backlog of stuff that had piled up on the desk last week over NAVSEA's visit and got into the shower.
.....I was definitely in migraine hangover mode most of the morning, but it wasn't too bad. A little bit of vision lost and a little wobbliness, but the head was not hurting at all.
.....Day went by fast, although my desk still looks rather like a disaster area. I think it is going to take several days to tame it. :-)
.....June Faire meeting tomorrow night. It was originally scheduled to be held at the Social. But it is hard to concentrate at a meeting there. The last Board meeting was moved into the kitchen and was rather cramped. So I can see why the Board moved it. TBT and I were going to split forces so one could man the Hall and the other go to the Board meeting. But thankfully, Oliver is able to take time away from taking care of family to man the Hall. That was nice of him to do.
.....Wednesday is nothing this week as Fight Practice has moved to Thursday. We spoke with Oliver and he agreed with us on moving the April Business Meeting to Tuesday of that week as well. Which means we will not miss out on the Martiallate crowd. Which also means we get to go to NORWESCON with a clear conscience. :-)
.....TBT is putting together a Study Group to submit single entries in next year's Kingdom A&S and Bardic Championships. To encourage a large number of people in the Barony, and maybe the surrounding area, to take part. I really liked the idea. Definitely found it inspirational in and of itself. I'm thinking of doing something Bardic. I haven't decided exactly what yet. Maybe something on the gemshorn or recorder. Or maybe a dance. Or some poetry. It might be a good year to finally make Middle English and my poetry style actually come together and have children.
.....Braveheart is playing in the background on the Tele. I'm not a huge Mel Gibson fan, but I'm finding out that if I'm not actually paying attention to the story line and just listening to the soundtrack, the music is actually pretty good.
.....That's enough rambling for a Monday evening. :-)
.....Aaron / Arontius.
