I agree with just about everything you've posted. It's funny, you with the Arthurians and so on, me with the Harlequins (when I was very young). They never ended well either, not because of tragedy, but because they ENDED right when the relationship was really starting. Right when the two admitted they were in love. It's warped my thinking for a long time, that. And I still have a hell of a time writing a fiction novel (I've written about 40) that doesn't just abruptly stop if the protagonists decide to hook up. Weird, that.
Anyway, just wanted to point out, and this is the only thing I have a niggle about, you don't have to 'get married' to be married. Just sayin', me, the unmarried, married person :).
