What you say is valid. I'll have to admit that I have fallen into this trap a time or two. But I have worked at leaning to control that OCD behavior, sometimes even successfully.
But I would also hope that if a volunteer were to feel as if they were being hopelessly micromanaged that they would feel comfortable enough with me to approach me and tell me, politely :-), to back off a little bit. When we actually have some dialogue, we can reach an agreement where we can both get what we want and move the plan forward.
