.....Greetings Everyone!
.....Woo! Hoo! My 26th issue of The Crier has been uploaded to the FTP site in Idaho Falls. Only TEN issues left to go, Baby! :-) The October, 2007, issue will be my final issue. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Being a Kingdom Officer has its perks and its downfalls, but there is a realistic reason why the term limit is two years and not three. :-) At a year and a half or so, I was feeling pretty good after having caught my stride. After two years the tedium of doing the same thing over and over again starts wearing down on you. And there is only so much you can do to change that.
.....I would have thought that the bad part of this office would be dealing with the people who can't seem to figure out how to read or take directions, or dealing with IMPORTANT people who really don't care what you do, but want things to an impossible standard. But these things have been relatively easy for the most part. For some reason I've learned to take pity on those who should know better but don't. Take that with the sense of accomplishment that one receives in seeing The Crier delivered each month and I can truly say that even though I'll be ready to step down next September, there will be a large part of me that regrets seeing it go to someone else. :-)
.....Went over to Seattle on Friday to take the beloved Laurellen out to dinner. Had a most difficult time leaving her to return home. South Seattle doesn't seem like it would be a long distance, but it is way too far away from Bremerton. Just sayin'.
.....Managed to accomplish a few things over the weekend beyond The Crier. The house finally was CLEANED on Saturday. Huzzah! I've been keeping it picked up, but the housecleaners came over on Saturday and gave her a good rub-down. Not perfect though, Ophie, the REAL leader, was on TDY in California, so it was her daughter who did all the work. But I'm not complaining at all. It was good to be able to walk into the bathroom and kitchen and not be disgusted with how dirty it had become (as if I couldn't get off of my butt and clean it myself :-)).
.....Played D&D on Saturday afternoon with Brighid, Cedric, Aelianora, Talon, Janae and Renart. All of us except Cedric seemed kinda sleepy. Cedric was his usual hyper self. :-) But we still had fun. Finished up in time to make a run to Costco and Safeway to finish my shopping for the week. Then still had enough time to get about two-thirds of the Christmas shopping done. Everything on my list for Rhys is on order. I've got a couple of presents for Laurellen, but am thinking of a couple of other things I'd like to get. Hmmm, will have to 'ruminate' on this more. :-)
.....On Sunday I was up before six working on The Crier. Was able to finish it up by sometime after noon. Uploaded it to the FTP site and then ran out to finish other chores on my plate. Visited Mom at her house. Her joints do not like the cold, damp weather. She's looking more seriously at retirement. Which will mean some changes. I'm hoping that I can get her into some sort of apartment arrangement, something with no stairs that she can negotiate that will not make me nervous. We'll see. She turns 62 on December 3rd. Will have to start rolling on all the paperwork.
.....Made my 'to-do' lists for the week and worked on my Baronial Bardic projects. I'm actually quite embarrassed at how little I've been able to practice. But I guess a good humiliation is good for the soul. :-)
.....Looking forward to Thanksgiving this week. The beloved Laurellen and Rhys will be headed this way. Huzzah!!! Then the regular HUGE meal at Gwenllyn's house. We're going to get a showing of Happy Feet at the theatre sometime in there. Just gotta figure out exactly when. :-)
.....Phone's starting to ring, gotta run. Hope everyone has a good week. :-)
.....Aaron / Arontius.
