Harry Potter - Book Three - DONE!!!

.....Greetings All!

.....I was missing the Beloved Tamm so much this morning that I was up at about 5AM and was reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It was O.K. But the thing that frustrates me more than anything else on the Harry Potter books is is the contrived, simplistic ending. This book more so than even the first two. As I read the final chapters on Sirius Black and Professor Lupin I kept thinking of the average Scooby Doo cartoon where all the loose ends are wrapped up in a two minute conversation between the kids of the Mystery Machine and the local police department.

.....BUT, having said that I can say that I worked hard at not comparing the book to anything Tolkien. That helped. The Harry Potter books are a good read if done in that vein. It hit me that when I read a cheap Conan novel that I totally read it as trashy fantasy for a few hours of escapism. If I approach Harry Potter as escape fantasy, I think that I'll enjoy it a lot more.

.....The Beloved Tamm tells me that the story telling picks up at the fourth novel, so I'm looking forward to the fourth and fifth books.
