Dearest A&E :) I had nearly all of my windows replaced a few years back with some really nice double paned windows for around 10,000 and I have a pretty large split level with a huge picture window in my upstairs living room, 3 good sized bedroom windows upstairs, kitchen window, etc.

Also, I've found a great referral service for all manner of home improvements/ repairs. You can get multiple quotes/ referrals and if they get complaints the service drops them, so the odds of getting pushy asshats are minimal. I've been extremely impressed with the people that I've had come out to give me plumbing quotes. They were polite, professional, told me exactly what needed to be done in writing so I'd have a head start for getting other quotes, and even told me who's specifically good in my area and who's prices might be better.
