Thank God Monday's Over!!!!

.....Monday was probably the worst day I've had in a very long time. Major whinefest alert! :-)
.....The transition to the new code went even worse than I expected. I'm glad I came in early to get unpacked and situated. First thing off was being slammed by three emergency repairs in San Diego. Tried getting them off the ground but when you have a new phone number and a new management system, everything slows to a crawl. Ugh! New management! I'd gotten used to having NO management for so long that I had built in work arounds. Now I suddenly have four bosses. All have their own style. All have their own agenda. All want me to do things their own way. By the time we were working our last emergency repair during the afternoon, the four of them were fighting amongst themselves over how to proceed. I took an opportunity to get the hell out of the office a little earlier then usual. Well, 4PM is not that much earlier, but I just need to get out of there. I can tell this is going to be fun.
.....Went to the Post Office to ship off orders from Ingasbo and realized I had left my brain at work. There was no way I was going to go back and get it. I'll mail the silly packages today.
.....Then went to the storage unit to get inventory on a few items. For some reason the door was having a tough time opening. I opened it part way and started reaching in to see if something was blocking. Couldn't identify anything, so I stuck my head inside. Bad Move! BONK! One of the 3-inch wood octagonal pavilion poles beaned me on the head. I saw stars for a good ten minutes and then had a raging headache for the rest of the evening. I can't take aspirin anymore because of the surgery so I had to live with it.
.....Seems that Their Highnesses lost power sometime Sunday, which is why I didn't see their missive until Monday. I dumped everything into The Crier and formatted it. Made .pdf files of the Their page and a couple of updated pages (mainly calendar with Royal Progress) and then worked at dumping it all to the FTP site for the printer. For some reason it kept dumping the connection every four or five pages. Ugh! I had to fight the silly thing for a good hour or so. But the damned thing is finally uploaded. Labels have been e-mailed to the printer and check is in the mail. I'm done with the August issue. Twenty-two issues down, thirteen issues left to go.
.....Had Team Haggis issues to deal with. Have to keep reminding myself that this is a volunteer organization full of people who are leaders and innovators in thier own right (which has its own share of frustrations), as well having its share of people who need a full time babysitting service. My patience, which I thought was pretty good, had several true tests to it last night. Poor neighbors, I went out the back door at one point, yelled multitudinous exclamations of foul language at the trees and kicked a tree trunk a half dozen time. Emotionally I felt much better. My leg is sore for some reason today though. :-)
.....Hope today is better.

Date: 2006-07-11 02:32 pm (UTC)Work/Managers: four? Good times.
If it helps any, I'm sending calming thoughts your way today. And! Just think! Whether you and Team Haggis are ready or not, JC will happen this week-end. There is something quite comforting in the inevitability of it, yes?
Or maybe not. :)
Only five days! :-)

Date: 2006-07-11 03:47 pm (UTC)I worked in a position where I had 3 bosses. On more than one occasion, I had to ask *them* to prioritize their projects. There was no way I could finish all of them in the allotted time frame and they were all insistent that they needed to be finished.
JC will be just fine - you will be covered in glory. The only legitimate gripe will be the parking - and nothing can be done about that. Everything else will be whinging and you can cheerfully ignore.
Remember - we love you and no-one else matters.
