.....Greetings All,

.....It is incredibly late and the intelligent thing to do would be to go to bed. But as is usual after finishing a project like this one, I sit with a mind full of thoughts and ideas and a heart that is full of emotion. It is hard to nurture something this complex, this full of details, just to let it go when the event is over. You want to hold on to it forever and watch the brainchild of your ideas to continue to grow and become something greater than you could have ever imagined.

.....It was a very long day today. The weather was incredibly hot all afternoon. And like an idiot I spent most of it running around in the sun pulling down pavilions and towers and ropes and stuff. When the real workout came later in the day I was already tired. This was definitely reflected in the mess of stuff thrown into the U-Haul and finally into storage. I was so tired that I managed to leave the keys to the storage unit inside Lobelia before I headed down with the load. Sigh! Ended up having to wait for His Excellency Cedric to deliver keys.

.....When we finally unloaded everything into storage (a feat unto its own, I stil don't know how we got everything into it), and got back to site we discovered that one of the merchants (Samurai Sam) had had car problems and was just starting to load up his trailer. It took about an hour and a half or so to get everything loaded up and out of there. They are very nice people, gave us a bottle of Sake just for the help. But it was still 11:20 PM before we managed to get him on the road.

.....Made sure everything was bundled down tight inside Lobelia and took off down the road on the heels of Samurai Sam. But when I made it to the Storage Facility for Lobelia and tried to get into the gate that is when I found out that there are time limitations on the Storage Units, you cannot get into the complex after 11PM. Which is very logicial, but a real pain in the arse when all you want to do is make it home to go to bed. :-)

.....I'll have more to say (of course :-)), but I'm going to go and take a shower and then see about getting into bed. The weekend was good.

.....The weekend would have been one hundred times better though if Morouda and Marquessa Laurellen had show up. I know that they both said they wouldn't. But after a couple of months and happinness in the thought that they would actually be present, it hurt my plans. I was no longer in happy, happy anticipation of learning at the feet of the Mistress and hanging out with my good friends from Live Journal. I was cranky over the first day or so and grumbled a lot. Which is rather sad, if I had been able to stay in my happiness zone, the event would have wowed the Kingdom even more then it already has. :-) (Marquessa Laurellen and Morouda, you didn't think that you were getting out of here without any kind of mention of this, now did you? It's time to fling the guilt trip poo at the spectators by the monkeys watching you from inside the cage. :-)).

.....I'll talk to you all later today. Take care. :-)

.....Arontius / Aaron.

You did a wonderful job, Arontius. And you are a speed demon, on or off the golf cart!

I was very proud of the barony. I know everyone knew putting something like this together is a big job, but I don't think even the King realizes just how much of a challenge that site is.

Good job, Arontius. Now lets' sleep for a few months....

indeed. I've run a few events in my day, some of them large ;) and this one went very well. I was especially imopressed with how gate was run Fri night when we worked it.

a little known secret about me ;) I'm kinda crabby. and I get snarky about sloppy event planing. I didnt once go "sheesh. what a bunch of amateurs.".

that's pretty big for me ;)

yay you! yay dragonslaire!

Samurai Sam?? I missed Samurai Sam? Gosh, I was just thinking of them. So glad they are back. I never worry about food when they do an event.

It never occurred to me that I would be missed! Thank you so much! I'll post in my own LJ about the weekend I had. But thank you so much for missing me. I really needed to hear that this morning. :-)

I felt that way too! Plus, it helps that Mrq_laurellen knows you too. There's that extra connection. :-)

JC was really smooth from my (admittedly sidelined) perspective. I heard no grumbling or complaining from anyone, and heard many positive comments about what a great job was being done on the event.

On the personal side, I ended up with a pinched sciatic nerve and spent most of the weekend watching traffic and chatting with those who walked by my shade area, although I did gimp up the hill for court, whereupon I found that an open-weave fabric for a head-cover offers NO protection against the sun. I enjoyed Coronation, but I am currently sunburned worse than I can ever remember being toasted. My nose would outshine Rudolph's.

Arontius, thanks for the VIP treatment in obtaining my tent and cot. I slept more comfortably than I ever have at an event. I do look forward to an event where you are not working so we can have some sit-down-and-chat time. This once-a-year dinner at Norwescon is nice but not enough!!
