.....First it was Anne Brynley ([livejournal.com profile] centaur11, now it is Morag ([livejournal.com profile] birdmatrix). Are people starting to think that Face Book is the way to go and Live Journal should be abandoned? I hope not as I actually prefer Live Journal to Facebook. LJ is a lot more detail oriented, and moves at a little slower pace. Face Book is almost ADD to me. I like reading details about what is happening to people and what they are thinking. I suppose that this means that I should get off of my posterior and actually POST more than I have. It's been a rough couple of months though and it has been hard to dig up the energy reserves to put some thought into it. Maybe I should think of it more as a good mental exercise instead, something to make my mind just a little more flexible as I age (rapidly, it seems).

.....Here's hoping that those still on my Friend's List continue to stay there. :-)

I really don't like Facebook. The only reason I have an account is to keep up with my sister and my dad. LJ is the way to go for me, even though I don't post as often as I would like.

livejournal is my journal, Facebook is just drive bys

I'll keep LJ for real posts and FB can keep my "hi! I'm here!" natterings. I used to put those on LJ but now I dont have to :)

add to that the vague distrust I have with FB re: my privacy, etc and I rather doubt I'll ever give up my LJ. I like being able to filter posts, and such.

still, there are folks who use FB as their primary means of communication and thats cool too, just not for me so much.

I have a vague distrust of FB too... I've gotten several infections (despite practicing safe hex) and the timing suspiciously matched my occasional forays onto FB.

Not to mention the amount of 'spam' from games, apps, and other crapola drives me bananas.

People have different preferences, LJ has more deep thought, but sometimes folks don't have time for reading long posts or just don't want to read the rants, snarks and whines. FB is more sanitized as well as being abbreviated. It is a quick read and because it is a more social outlet that folks are more likely to family and business associates on they are less likely to snark, whine and rant. So, some folks will enjoy FB and some LJ, whatever suits their lifestyle and preferences.

I've been meaning to post more too, but I'm very bad at remembering.

Hopefully my photos will give me more excuse to post... Go some spectacular shots over Dyes Inlet on my way back from Ralph's today. Will post 'em on the morrow.

(Edit to add:) And if you stop, I'll miss your posts.

I am staying with Live Journal. Like Derek, I really do not trust FB, although some friends and some of my family are there.
I really do not see any reason for more social networks.

I love LJ. I don't like FB at all. It's a one-liner thing, and it produces SPAM like crazy, and then there is the privacy thing. When I post, I like to say something, not just a one liner. This is a journal for me, and that's what a I want to do.

So, I will be here. If everyone else leaves, I guess I will just lose touch.

I will always prefer LJ. I've had a FB account for a year or so, but really only started paying attention to it about 5 months ago, mostly because there are people who don't LJ (either they've left or they never did). I finally gave up on trying to ignore FB and accepted it. :-) However, I still like LJ better.

I much prefer LJ - I just am not into games and such - but I do have a lot of friends on it so I do keep intouch by poking them sometimes. I willo be staying on LJ.

I prefer LJ, I can be more frank in it (although that doesn't always work out for me ;-)
There are a number of people from high school that friended me in Facebook and I am wondering why on earth I friended them back????? I am often flabbergasted by how their attitudes and thought processes are no different from the 9th grade.

Facebook has its uses. I much prefer LJ over FB. The only reason I have a FB account is for work. When I get a new job the FB account will be ditched. I would not be overly worried about FB vs. LJ. :D

I prefer LJ but, as I said to Rebecca, I self-edit so much when I write - and I'm so constantly interrupted - that it takes me forever to compose a proper post. When I do have a stretch of uninterrupted time, I then feel compelled to work on the "Crier". So, I post one-liners on FB and real updates on LJ. Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere. ;-)

I have another couple of Cover Art drawings if you would like them. :-)
Should I mail them to the address in the Crier? (Just making sure you aren't turning it over and they get lost in the shuffle).

That would be great! Thank you so much! :-) The SCA Chronicler is requiring that all contributors sign releases, so I'll send you one. Would you send me your snail-mail address at angharad AT blackberryhollowfarm DOT com?

I have had two friends get on to FB and when they did FB sent invites to their entire mailing lists. Both of them hopped off after finding that out. However my spam count went up after recieving the invite. So no FB for me.

I tried FB and hated it. I'm very sorry both of these ladies have gone from LJ. It makes me teh sad.

For me LJ is like writing a letter to a friend, catching them up on what has happened to me since last I wrote, sharing what has been the uppermost on my mind from that time period. For me, Face book is more like passing someone in the hall and saying Hi but not much else. I find LJ much more satisying to read and to post to but then I used to like to write letters to friends and I know not everyone enjoys doing that.
