Monday In Zombie-Land.
Nov. 17th, 2008 07:40 pm.....Mondays are never good days for me it seems. The day is always a whirlwind of cleaning up from the weekend at work. Then coming home always feels strange, sort of like that feeling you get when you step off of the moving escalator onto the solid floor. The sudden loss of momentum always throws you off slightly. :-)
.....I'm actually feeling a little hopeful at work. We finally hired a new Program Planning Manager. She has a lot of experience in the Carrier world and is determined to set the submarine world on fire with organization. One of her first acts was to set up a series of planning meetings with The Big Boss. John and I looked at each other, felt immediately sorry for her, then burst out laughing. She will learn soon enough what kind of person The Big Boss is. I give her maybe two or three 'planning meetings' before she finds some way to drop them out of frustration of actually getting anything done. :-)
.....I wish her well. But in the meantime I am reveling in the fact that I now have time to actually do the job I was hired to do, planning miscellaneous submarine work. Just have to catch up with the overflowing inbox of paper.
.....The Studio is looking pretty good, thanks to TBT. The floor has been set and the desk is in place. Just needs the trim put into place and then I can start moving SOME stuff back into it. I put my foot down though at putting everything stacked up in the Living Room back into The Studio. It stays piled up in there until The Studio is set up to accept said 'stuff,' which means bookcases. I know myself well enough to know that if the pile from the Living Room becomes 'The Pile In The Studio' that it will remain that way for a LONG time. :-)
.....Still also determined to eliminate a large bunch of this stuff. Hopefully maybe down to 100 items. That's still the goal. :-) Am actually looking forward to my two weeks off in December as it will be my goal this year to actually reduce the number of items in The Studio down to as close to 100 items as possible. Then tackling the garage. What a concept! Actual, for real, space! :-)
.....Her Excellency Brighid asked me to write some ceremonial verbiage for a scroll that THL Anne is designing for her. At first I was thinking of something Norse, as usual. But then Anne showed me the scroll and I was taken by surprise as it was something more, almost, Elizabethan, in design. I will have to rethink what I wanted to say. Maybe something in a sonnet format? Or something more along the lines of an Elizabethan era proclamation. I personally have an easier time with the quasi-Norse, but the Elizabethan will be a challenge, and therefore interesting. :-)
.....Almost done with my outline for the (50) Spenserian Sonnet stanzas, based on what Edmund Spenser did with The Faerie Queene, which was not a fully complete Spenserian sonnet. The outline has been sitting in my mobile brain for over a year now, with an idea here and there jotted down for reference. Just haven't had the time to pull them all together, and more work will be needed. But the concept is starting to take some shape, centering around a personal quest. But I'll say no more until I have something more concrete that I can actually defend.
.....Let's see, tomorrow night is Fight Practice. Wednesday and Thursday are, unbelievably, empty at the moment. I'd like to keep it that way if possible. :-) Friday will be all about preparations for The Toys-For-Tots Tournament on Saturday. Looks like there will be volunteers for gate, so I will not have to sit it alone all day. Should be a good day.
.....Hmmm, need to work on a 'to-do' list but am starting to fall asleep. Must stay awake long enough to put everything away and get ready for tomor.....
.....ZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzz... :-)
.....Aaron / Arontius.
