Yay! Wednesday Is Over!
Apr. 7th, 2010 09:13 pm.....It was my Monday today, and it was Wednesday. Definitely busy, but it does mean that the weekend is that much closer. Come on, Weekend! :-)
.....The funny thing was that I didn't even see the Big Boss today. Things were just super busy, and frustrating. One of those days where you ran and ran and ran and never seemed to get anything done. Argh!
.....I think the most frustrating bit was the phone call I received from someone offering me a job. I showed up on their list of qualified people. It is in a lower pay grade, but my willingness to accept anything other than my current job is more well known than even I realized. This person who called me I think was expecting an ecstatic response, with plenty of emphatic 'YES'es to his enquiry on whether I wanted the job or not. I think he was disappointed when I didn't reply at all.
.....What he doesn't understand is that I really have little choice on whether or not I accept his job offer or not. It all comes down to the Big Boss letting me go, which is doubtful at best. Then there is the fact that nearly a third of this year is over. Even if the Big Boss were to say yes, by the time I transitioned over to the new job half the year would be over, less than five months before the Big Boss retires anyway. In other words, the horizon is in view. A future without the Big Boss whose picture looks absolutely wonderful, WITH THE PAY TO MATCH. So, yeah, I may hate my current job, but every day that goes by and gets me closer to the end of the year is just one day more that I am reluctant to give up the the loss of soul I've done in order to secure the increased paycheck.
.....In other words, thank you but you freakin' waited too long before tryin' harder to spring me from this prison cell. You should have actually tried harder earlier.
.....I know, I sound like someone who can't seem to make up his mind. But it's been a helluva a couple of years and I'm having a hard time giving up when I've nearly made it to the end.
.....Really looking forward to a weekend of not having to be anywhere or do anything. Except maybe go and see 'Alice In Wonderland'. It looks good. And I'm in the mood for something whimsical.
.....Glad yesterday was the Business Meeting and not today. I'm definitely grumpier today.
.....Aaron / Arontius.
