.....The day started off interestingly. The Big Boss had a family emergency and so was not into work. The mid-level boss spent most of the day trying to keep up with his suddenly packed schedule. What did that mean for me? Well, I was left alone to do my job. What a concept! And I actually caught up with a few things that have been hanging out there a while. :-)

.....Lots of interesting things in the air at work. Our workload looks packed for the foreseeable future. I don't think that I'll have to worry about a RIF anytime soon, that's for sure. And my twenty-five years comes into play in 2012. After that point according to current RIF rules, I have to be retired rather than laid off. Not that I was really worried about that happening, but I remember a time when I was back in the early '90's. Growing older is not all bad. :-)

.....Lots of construction projects on the horizon at PSNS and Bangor. Even at Keyport surprisingly. If you had asked me about Keyport last year I would have told you that their future looked pretty bleak. But this year the story is changing. The Navy plans on dumping some money into their programs. At least that's what we're hearing right now. If Ralph really wanted to do so, I bet he could hold out for a promotion and rake in the big bucks. :-)

.....The plans for converting Trident Submarines for female sailors is sparking a lot of discussion as well. Looking like a Chief's Quarters on upcoming Trident Projects are under the gun for remodeling. It's going to be an interesting ride.

.....Interesting news from Moutain View Middle School. Mistress Gwenllyn called me today with the message that the Principal had left her a message about an issue from the Ithra we held there a couple of weeks ago. I called right away and my nervousness was heightened by the reception I was getting. I ran the gauntlet through about three secretaries looking for the Principal, who wasn't on site today. But the reaction was the same in each case. The Secretary would ask who I was and what my business with the Principal was. When I told them I was with the group that rented the school a couple of weeks ago they would say, 'Oh, I know What This Is About'. But none of them would give me details. Rather frustrating. I'm awaiting the conversation tomorrow with a little dread.

.....I'm not too worried just yet. We had a similar situation happen at the Seaside Church. Some of our younger crowd were a little 'active' in the classrooms upstairs during a Fight Practice and I fielded a phone call about 'damages to equipment'. I called and spoke with our representative and told them that we would definitely make things right financially. But when all was said and done, the issue was mainly that the younger crowd had disturbed the arrangement of materials and equipment left by the school.

.....So I'm imagining what really is the issue is that we left things in not quite the same order as teachers had left their classrooms on Friday. I suppose that if I were a teacher and I found my classroom on Monday in a different set up than how I left it on Friday I'd feel disturbed as well. So I'll listen to the conversation and offer whatever amends I can on behalf of the group. Hopefully it will not be that bad. I imagine that if we had actually damaged anything, or if something were actually missing, that we would have heard details already.

.....We hired a custodian as part of our contract for use of the site for the weekend. I'm wondering what the role of that custodian actually was supposed to be? I'll have to ask that question. What I thought it was wasn't what it turned out to be.

.....Facebook is starting to scare me again. An Aunt I haven't seen in about twenty years friended me today. Right out of the blue. My father's sister. Who is now living in Bend, Oregon of all places. She used to be a lawyer's secretary in Burbank, CA. Bend, OR, is a long way from Burbank. She wants to know all about what I've been doing and my new family. I'm a little reluctant to say anything until I hear what her current relationship with my Dad is.

.....I think it opened the flood-gates though, because I just fielded a friend request from a couple of cousins I haven't seen since I was still in elementary school. I'm being over-run by family all of sudden. Ack!!! :-)

.....Had a good conversation this evening with our representative at the VFW Hall. I spoke to her about renting the VFW Hall for another evening (or more) on a monthly basis. She was appreciative and suggested that Thursdays would be best. We might move our Business Meetings to Thursdays, or maybe Fight Practices. We'll have to talk about it as a group and see what everyone would prefer.

.....I offered some labor to support VFW improvement projects and was told that they had this well in hand between actual VFW members and members of the Boy Scouts who meet at the Hall. She was amenable though to our helping with fundraising. We were thinking of a mini-Medieval Faire at the Hall. But we'll have to talk about this some more.

.....We also spoke about making modifications to the Hall ourselves to support a covered Fight Practice area. I was told that there is a 'gazebo' in the plans soon and that it might be sizeable enough to support a heavy Fight Practice. She was also amenable to other plans that Ronan suggested, that being a lean-to or equivalent to the side or back of the Hall to support a covered Fight Practice. This could make next winter much more active for the fighting community, which would be a good thing. More to follow.

.....Talon has overwhelmed us with Cell Phone and Data ideas. :-) Poor TBT is not sure which way to go. :-) I'm glad I'm not the one with the ultimate decision on this. :-)

.....Starting to get sleepy. Good Night. :-)
