Monday Morning Update?
May. 31st, 2010 08:41 am.....It feels strange to be updating Live Journal from the Computer Room on a Monday. I could get used to these three day weekends. If only to get Talon to stop harassing me about the fact that he gets them as a matter-of-course from Keyport. :-)
.....Suzie got a full scrub down yesterday before the rains hit. She doesn't look 100% yet, but is at least driveable. She's got a leak problem in the trunk that is affecting the whole car. We're going to try some sealant on the trunk gasket to see if that will help until we can get it fixed for good. Some BODY hit the back end of the car last year and the trunk doesn't shut properly.
.....Put a heater in the trunk and let it run for several hours. It seemed to help, which is good. I'll let it run some more today and then see if I can get the rest of the trunk cleaned out.
.....The inside of Lobelia was fully cleaned out yesterday. She smells much nicer now and is ready for stocking! The weather reports for June Faire are improving, but I'm thinking I'll be glad to have use of her for the event. Will spend a goodly portion of today going through each room and pulling out stuff that should have been put back into Lobelia after the last season.
.....Sigh, just saw that Guillermo Del Toro has quit as the director for 'The Hobbit'. It wasn't a bitter parting as he is still working on the screen play. But I worry for the future of the movie. There has been a lot of churn in getting it off the ground.
.....Watching the governor of Texas on CNN decry the Federal Government for not keeping a better eye on Big Oil and 'allowing' the current crises to happen. What hypocrisy! I've worked with a number of states now in setting up environmental support for Projects we have in the works, including Washington, California, Texas (Ingelside, outside Corpus Christi), Georgia, and Florida (as well as Hawaii and Guam). I can tell you that the state governments of Texas and Georgia basically let heavy industry get away with as much as they want. There is very little real regulation. They get to dump amazing amounts of pollution. It is amazing how much more environmentally minded the West Coast is. California watches pollution like a hawk, and Washington is only slightly less millitant about it. And for Texas to say they have no power to tell BP to 'tow the line'? Hogwash of the worst order. The sad part is that the voting public of Texas has no clue, and doesn't really seem to care. They blame the Federal Government and wash their own hands of the issue.
