.....There is a member of Dragon's Laire who is about to start her six weeks of intensive writing at the Clarion West Writing Workshop. I am so totally impressed that she was selected. I realize that sounds like I am questioning her talent, but that couldn't be more untrue. The selection process for the handful of people who make it into the workshop each year is grueling. They sift through hundreds of applications for those very few spots. It takes something extra, extra special to stand out to the selection committee. They can't always explain in detail what that special 'something' is, but Sandra definitely had it.

.....Sandra has been a fund-raising demon to come up with the entry fee (I believe is it like $4 or $5 thousand). She did a number of bake sales at Fight Practice. I gave whatever I had in my pockets. Wish I had remembered to bring more.

.....She is determined to continue blogging on her experience while in attendance. I personally think that she will be so immersed in the workshop that she will not have time to do so, but I'm hoping she at least throws out tidbits, and then really WRITES or gives some talk on her experience afterwards.

.....I would so love to do something like this some day. But I'm not sure I have the focus or drive to devote to the work necessary to build my writing skills to that level of accomplishment though.

.....If you are interested in following her during the experience, here is the web-site:

.....Good Luck, Sandra! Or better yet, I hope that it is magically beyond your dreams!

.....I know that Aelianora is going to laugh at me for this, but this is new TO ME. :-)

.....Gwen leant TBT a copy of the "Journal Of The Society For Medieval Archaeology" a while back. It is FULL of interesting articles.

.....Here is its published intent:

"THE SOCIETY FOR MEDIEVAL ARCHAEOLOGY exists to further the study of British history since the Roman period by puclishing a journal of international standing dealing primarily with the material evidences, and by various other means, for example by holding annual week-end conferences outside London. The Society provides a medium for coordinating the work of archaeologists and historians within the medieval period by means of its journal and its meetings."

.....The Journal we have from Gwen is Volume XIX, 1975, and has articles on 'medieval tile pavement' and 'Barred combs of Frisian type in England' and 'The significance of the place-name 'wealdham'' and a whole host of in-depth articles. Most of which are incredibly fascinating.

.....I thought that to read any more we'd have to haunt the back rooms of Powell's Books or similar, but I was snooping around ABE and found out by accident that all of the Journals have been scanned and are available free online.

.....Way Cool! Novice Geeks Unite!! :-)

.....Like I said, most of you probably already knew all this already. But for me this was a find worthy of squealing. :-)

.....I was channel surfing before bed and something on G4 caught my attention. Seems there is now a bluetooth capable vibrator on the market. The 'demonstrator' was quite excited about the fact that you could synchronize it to music on you iPod for a 'magical' experience. She was also quite excited about how couples could 'choreograph' their experience.

.....Ummmm, hahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!

.....This is definitely not something I imagined when I amazed myself with dot matrix artwork off of my Ti-99/4A twenty five plus years ago. :-)
