.....Saturday was something of a wash. I went in for a 6:30 AM Telecom with the Really Big Bosses. There was lots of nervousness over getting something fixed on the East Coast. There was a plan made, a back-up plan, and then a second back-up plan. Our part was the back-up plan, whereas we gathered parts pruned from pieces we had at the warehouse. Then we placed those parts in a box, put them in the hands of a mechanic, and sent him to the airport. He used his government credit card to buy a plane ticket and flew to the East Coast to deposit said parts in the hands of the boss on site, at 7AM this morning. When the government wants something done now, it gets done now.

.....After that though, things went downhill fast. I made it home by about 9AM and went out for coffee with TBT and I could feel the pressure coming. By 10AM I was in full blown migraine. And boy, was it bad. I was seeing nothing but fuzzy vision and feeling like I was going to throw up just from simply moving. I went to bed and don't remember much until late last night.

.....What a waste of a day. And I missed Jenae's Birthday all together. Sigh!

.....Today was a little better. Had our morning Telecom at 7AM and listened to the chagrin in the voice of the Really Big Bosses when both the plan, and the back-up plan, came through and two sets of parts were on site. Oh, well, our courier will get on a plane early tomorrow morning and come back with said parts. But the schedule on site will not be slacking because we couldn't come through, that's for sure.

.....At 8AM TBT went out for coffee again and were back home again sometime after 9AM. I started the final breakdown of my old computer. The final e-mail files were moved away, and after a final sweep of the system, everything was unplugged. It was something of a sad moment for me. That old Dell computer was ten years old. It had seen me through being Baronial Book Herald, being Kingdom Chronicler, being Seneschal, and now it was about to be buried. I felt like I was abandoning a friend to be euthanized.

.....I had less trouble saying good-bye to the printer though. That thing had been a pain in the rear for a long while now and I was not sorry to pull it apart and take it away. I resisted dumping it into the trash simply because TBT insisted that it could be recycled. But, man, it was a toss up. I suppose I shouldn't be so frustrated with it as it was as old as the computer. But still, it has never been my favorite printer to use.

.....Then the new computer was all set up and the power pushed. It was a dream in speed. Amazing that I could actually DO things again without going away for a while and waiting for it.

.....Although there were a few surprizes. I did not know that Outlook Express is now obsolete. Call me clueless. I still use it at work, but it is a 2003 edition. New computers don't even have it available and it is not available for download from Microsoft. I had to set up Windows Live Mail. I was trepidatious. It was kinda scary. But after playing with it for about ten minutes it was like I'd been using it all my life. Especially after I copied and pasted all 600 pieces of e-mail that I had copied over from my old e-mail inbox into it. :-)

.....The new printer was a little more stubborn. I had to reinstall the drivers several times before I hit the right combination to allow it to speak to the computer wirelessly. Wow! Wirelessly! The keyboard, the mouse, and now the printer are all wireless. Talk about feeling old. :-)

.....Not everything was so easily salvageable though. My old iPod brick would not talk coherently to the computer. It is only six years old. But it had my entire library on it. That was almost 7,000 songs. I was bummed severely. I will either have to download my old CD collection to the new computer, or just plan on buying that music I really want. Thankfull, I had downloaded almost two hundred songs to the iPod Touch. So I have a good start on my favorite stuff. I'll see if there is something else I can try. Maybe I can dig up my old software CD and see about reloading the old stuff on to the new computer and see if I can get the brick to talk to something long enough to get the music either on to the computer, or on to the iPod Touch.

.....Now it's really late and I did not get half of all the stuff on my weekend list done. It's going to be a busy week, especially with all the catching up I have to do.
