Catching Up.

.....Greetings All,
.....I find myself unexpectedly alone this afternoon. I was all set to be on Rhys Patrol while the beloved Laurellen was attending a party. But Rhys received a better offer from Corey (Nimue's son). I don't blame him at all. Corey is a lot of fun and Nimue is way cool. :-) I love her a lot. :-)
.....So I'm going to site here and do some e-mail stuff and actually post something in LJ. :-)
.....I've actually been reading with interest all the stuff on the Artisan's Retreat. I keep wondering if the concept could be applied to the Pelican side of the house. As a unit the Pelicans do not have the cohesiveness that the Laurel Community has. I think that a large part of that is due to the nature of how a Pelican thinks (and there are definitely differences). But I think that part of it is due to the fact that none of the Pelicans have really made an effort to connect as a group outside of Peerage Meetings. I think that if we were to actually unionize, we could rock An Tir's world. :-)
.....Lots of good conversation with the beloved Laurellen on this topic. More to follow in a separate entry when I pull my thoughts together on it. Which means it could be a little while. Lots going on these days. :-)
.....We looked at Wedding Rings this morning at E.E. Robbins. There is a wedding band that I absolutely love with a Celtic Knotwork pattern on it. It was an easy decision. Picking one out for Tamm isn't going to be quite so easy I think. I would really like our rings to be as similar in design as possible. But the closest 'matching' ring to mine wasn't exactly as stunning on her hand (at least in her eyes from what I can tell, I think that she looks fantastic in anything myself :-)). She looked at a handful of designs that were really nice and imaginative. She's going to mull it all over for a week or two before making a decision.
.....I was rather surprised by E.E. Robbins. After all the radio advertising I really expected the WalMart of the jewelry world. But I was very pleased with the experience. The sales staff was very helpful without being intrusive at all. No pressure. Answered any question posed to them as thoroughly as possible. Stayed quiet and unseen when they saw that we wanted to just look and think. I was pensive about walking in there, but walked out a believer. Who would have guessed?
.....After a lot of angsting and sighing and thinking, I am pretty sure that we've narrowed the wedding itself down to what we actually want. We're going to have a very small ceremony over in Seattle at a venue that Tamm likes a lot. Only a few people there. Then we'll have the reception / party at Friday night of Last Chance. I'm hoping that Angharad will end up scheduling Last Chance for a September date. It would be a way cool thing for Last Chance to actually be WARM for a change. :-)
.....One the venue questions are settled for good, the posse really kicks into high gear. Mistress Gwenllyn and Mistress Ellen will totally take charge at that point with the food and decorations and all the other things involved. The only thing that I'm going to ask of them is that they involve as many people as would like to be involved. I've been really humbled by the number of offers of help people have given. Although I am marrying the most beautiful and wonderful person in the world, so that could be the root of it.
.....I am a very lucky guy, I know that for an absolute fact! Tamm is the best thing ever to happen to me. I realize that more and more every day.
.....Let's see, what else is happening. June Faire is starting to gear up. Got pre-reg forms about ready to dump into the March Crier. I gotta say that having total access to The Crier will be one thing that I'll miss when I give up the office. :-) That's a mighty powerful tool for a Pelican that likes to autocrat. :-)
.....Ooops, starting to get late. Gotta run. Hope that everyone is having a good weekend.
.....Arontius / Aaron.

I don't supose
Date: 2007-02-11 05:48 pm (UTC)I dont supose between now and June Faire you and me might be able to exchange a very short version of tweenty questions about perod documentation for music or perhaps at least a point in the right direction for certain books that might be helpful. I have been trying to stay in contact with several laurel's and other peers since Yule ( you bieng among them ) for help on that matter and thus far cannot even get a e mail response much less a little help. I can't help but feel a bit ignored/ It would only take a moment of any one peer's time to answer a few questions.
I would be very grateful. I feel my faith in the system is starting to diminish....
With Hopes
Vincent
Re: I don't supose
Date: 2007-02-12 12:24 am (UTC)Many apologies. Between combining households, putting out The Crier each month, and trying to get June Faire organized, my so-called 'free time' hasn't been very free. :-)
I haven't forgotten about you, so don't let your faith diminish. Just keep bugging the bejezzus out of us until we actually respond. :-) The majority of us will understand the intent and not take offense. At least *I* will not. :-)
For period music reference? Let's see.... Let me talk to THL Antonia. She is in the midst of a move, but has done some incredible research. I might ask Mistress ARwen as well.
I'm sending myself an e-mail reminder right now to tickle a few people on my own and see if I can at least get you going in the right direction.
Arontius.
