.....Greetings All,
.....So much is going on these days, still, that I'm having a difficult time keeping up with it all. :-) Being married on paper not the least. :-)
.....It was strange how the 'ceremony' took me by surprise. The September date is still the official 'ceremony' where the actual vows will be spoken and the rings exchanged. For some reason the exchange of rings has been the most 'tangible' idea in my mind of how 'official' the marriage is. So when we decided that we'd get married on July 13th so that we could get the Beloved Tamm and Rhys on insurance and start getting all the paperwork done, it seemed like not such a big deal to me.
.....We arranged to meet at the courthouse in Port Orchard late on Tuesday afternoon. We walked up to the counter where marriage licenses are issued. The clerk did the computer input of all the information and handed us a bunch of forms (after we gave her $60 in cash, marriage licenses are the only licenses that will not accept credit cards or checks :-), something *I* didn't know). It felt like we were buying a new car or something.
.....Over the next couple of days we coerced Cedric to officiate a quick ceremony for Friday (he's a registered minister you know :-)). Then we convinced Brighid and Countess E. to be witnesses. As Friday dawned it still wasn't registering in my mind that it was anything other than a typical Friday. Not even when Brighid obliquely reminded me that flowers might be appropriate (the Beloved Tamm is going through an 'orange' phase, I didn't realize how difficult it was to find orange flowers in an arrangement that looked half way decent :-)).
.....I couldn't get out of work early on Friday so I showed up at about 6:30 in Seattle. I hadn't even thought about wearing nice clothes. I was in old jeans and a Team Haggis T-Shirt. Pretty close to 7PM, everyone showed up at the house. The Beloved Tamm gave a tour of the house and all the incredible work that she has done to it.
.....Then Cedric started steering everyone towards the actual ceremony. That's when something happened. I started getting nervous for no reason that I can explain. My heart started beating rapidly. I started sweating profusely. For some reason I couldn't seems to connect two thoughts together either. I still can not explain what happened. It was rather scary. :-) I probably looked like a total moron. :-) But we made it through. I'm sincerely glad that Cedric had written something out and that my part was actually very minimal. I'm not sure I could have made it through something elaborate. :-) But he did a very nice job of it, I was extremely grateful. And once everything was over, I calmed down pretty quickly.
.....Then it was out to dinner at our favorite restaurant, Mizu's. It's a hibachi restaurant in Tukwilla. Incredible food.
.....Our original plans had us keeping this all a secret so that no one's feelings were hurt at all, but several things combined to make that not really possible. I suppose it was silly to think that we could have held to that in the first place. I know that for me it still hasn't sunk in yet that I'm actually MARRIED, nervous reaction notwithstanding. But things are pretty chaotic right now, I suppose that I'll start feeling much differently once we start getting the chaos at home organized a little. I'm very grateful that we're not going to July Coronation this weekend, I really need a break.
.....Was that rambling or what? :-) Gotta run, hope everyone has a good day.
.....Aaron / Arontius.

Date: 2007-07-18 02:49 pm (UTC)- Flowers are ALWAYS good. Especially for no reason other than you are in love.
- Flowers will not get you out of trouble if you have really hosed up, but they are a very good start. ;-D
