.....OMG! We spent three hours, THREE HOURS, last night listening to a guy from Penguin Windows do a sales pitch for replacing all the windows in the Bremerton Abode. That's three hours of my existence that is lost forever! For something that we'd like to do, but not after having some guy attempt to rip our arms out of our sockets getting us to buy windows! OMG!

.....Dude! I did not need to endure the 45 minute lecture on heat loss. I'm an Air Conditioning Mechanic by trade. I may know more about it than you do. I did not need to know the ins-and-outs of the microcellular structure of VIRGIN plastics! And Dude! Getting annoyed with Rhys after his fourth or fifth attempt to play with your laser temperature probe was YOUR freakin' fault in the first place.

.....About two hours into the presentation, Rhys was bored and hungry and starting to become a real pain-in-the-arse. But instead of getting really angry with him, I was silently saying, 'Go! Rhys! Go! Annoy the crap out of this guy!' He used half the known repertoire of strong armed salemen tactics against us. I was ready to run screaming for the hills. The Beloved Tamm takes these things much better than I do.

.....The really stupid thing is that he had some beautiful stuff to show us and some good ideas. It was horribly expensive and we would never have committed to signing contracts that night in any case. So if he had treated us like human beings instead of cattle being led to slaughter, we might have been a lot more interested in possibly paying a few extra dollars for his stuff. But his technique REALLY turned us off.

.....Gulp! Reality hit though. I went into the evening expecting to possibly sign on the dotted line for about $10,000 in replacement windows. This guys first figures hit the $37,000 mark and I think that my face drained of all color. He started backing off of that price almost immediately, especially after the Beloved Tamm started in on him. But even if we take into account his huge mark ups over what is standard, I'm seriously afraid that we're looking at close to $20K for everything that we want. We may have to re-think our plans and ideas.

.....I do know that the single pane, aluminum framed windows are sucky. I didn't need any idiot to tell me that. I could FEEL the cold draft that blew through them last winter.

.....Let the home remodeling circus begin! :-)
