.....So, May Crown next year is slated for an incredibly far distant universe known as 'Avacal', in Montengarde to be exact (Calgary, Alberta). :-) There was a group of friends to whom I was listening last night who mentioned that they were going to carpool themselves to the event.

.....They also mentioned that maybe Aquaterra or Madrone was going to charter a bus (or maybe it was a group of people who lived in one of those Baronies) with seats going for $150 (I think?). I'm not sure that I'd like to do that as it ties me to their schedule. The last time I took a train to Adiantum for Twelfth Night I enjoyed the views and the seating was comfortable, but it took sooooo long to get there and get home that I couldn't really enjoy it.

.....Not sure how much airfare is there. Will have to check that out, although I'm sure it isn't cheap.

.....Anyone else thinking of making the trip up there? Have you thought about what you were going to do yet? I'm thinking that maybe Heather (the van) would probably make the trip O.K. there and back, but I'd better get her checked out and repairs done between now and then.

.....Or maybe renting some sort of van / large car / station wagon might be the way to go? I've done that for several trips to Estrella and enjoyed it immensely as I never worried about the abuse to the transportation. :-)

.....I'm thinking that I'd like to go as I've never traveled to an Avacal event before and would very much like to do so. I think that the trip alone might be fun. I'd better make sure to budget some leave time between now and then.

.....If we go through Montana, maybe I could convince TBT to go as well? :-)

The easiest route is I-90 to Coeur d'Alene, ID, then up through Cranbrook & Fernie - not through Montana. It's about 10-12 hours from Seattle if you go that way and drive like I do. The event is actually about 2 hours SOUTH of Calgary, so Drumheller would be quite out of your way (but a lovely side trip if you have the time). Having done the bus thing to a 12th Night in Lionsmarche, I'm a big fan of driving myself and having that flexibility, with no sick ferrets stinking up the place.

I won't be going, but it should be a fun event. :)
